Light pollution is one of the main pollution problems nowadays. Do you know the blue light of our smartphones, computer, television and LED electronic products has great impacts on our eyes, brains, skin and organs?
Our bodies produce melatonin, a hormone that is in response circadian rhythm. Melatonin has antioxidant properties, induces sleep, boosts the immune system and helps keep us healthy by maintaining the function of internal organs.
Exposure to any kind of light especially blue light can suppress the secretion of melatonin. Our sleep schedule will be disrupted and not getting enough sleep will impair our memory next day.
Moreover, studies suggest that, prolonged exposure to blue light (emitted from electronic devices such as computers and smartphone) may cause blurry vision, dry and irritated eyes, even retinal damage and loss of vision.
Blue light can also lead to premature aging and skin damage by releasing cell-damaging free radicals.
